today i rode my bike to carp, taking the back roads through the foothills. it was an incredible ride for me, and refreshed my body and soul. so much beauty and color and peacefulness to be found in those back roads! and on the way back i saw a huge pod of dolphins swimming close to the shore at one of my favorite beach spots. i pointed them out to a man in his car, but he just smiled and looked away, not sure what i was pointing at. we are such an independent culture, so careful to give everyone ample space and privacy. this is good and of course appropriate in many situations, but sometimes it can feel so lonely and isolating, even when surrounded by people! i want to be a person that draws others in, that represents home and coziness and comfort to the people i come in contact with.
my heart feels a little lighter tonight.
